Am I The Best Expungement Lawyer In Maryland? The 🌎 May Never Know

Let me be clear, the Maryland rules of professional conduct prohibit me from making the claim that I am the best expungement lawyer in Maryland. I just thought that this would be a fun topic to explain how expungement works in Maryland and why it’s impossible to determine the best.

What Would Be The Criteria To Determine The Best Expungement Lawyer In Maryland?

Assuming there was a criteria to determine the best expungement lawyer in Maryland, perhaps what it would look something like this:

• The volume of expungements the attorney has successfully processed.
• The amount of times the attorney has managed to overcome State objections.
• The amount of motions the attorney has drafted or hearings the attorney has attended to convince Judges to seal her clients records.
• The amount of times the attorney has helped clients petition for early expungement.

This criteria seems pretty logical. It’s basically a combination of both the amount of petitions the attorney has processed (quantity) and the difficulty of certain jobs (quality).

It Would Be Impossible To Determine The Best Expungement Lawyer In Maryland Because His Record Is Invisible

So, this brings me to my next point which illustrates the beauty of expungement in Maryland. Once a record is expunged, it is destroyed forever as if it never happened. This completely renders my criteria above ineffective. I could have filed the most expungement petitions in Maryland. I could have successfully argued before the court more than any other attorney in Maryland why there is good cause for an early expungement for my clients. (Neither of which is true I’ve only been processing expungements for about 7 years, I’m sure there is a 30+ year vet who won’t retire that has done a lot more than I have). But even if it were true, you would never know!

While I will never be able to claim that I am the best expungement lawyer in Maryland, I can claim the next best thing. My record is invisible. Go ahead and look for the cases that I’ve worked on. You won’t find them. 🙂
